Topic: Legal risks for directors and consultants of distressed companies.

Speaker: Kevin Cochran, Legal Advisor, Nedbank Special Portfolio Unit.

After reading for his BA degree at WITS and BA(hons) LLB at Rhodes, Kevin served articles at Webber Wentzel Bowens in Johannesburg, where he practised after being admitted as an attorney.  Kevin subsequently joined Nedbank Corporate's Special Portfolio Unit, where he has worked for the past three years as a legal adviser, advising members of the Unit on the legal aspects of business rescue, the management of high risk debt and financially stressed debtors and multi creditor work-outs.

Abstract: A practical guide for turnaround managers, consultants, directors and other stakeholders in distressed companies to selected provisions of the Companies and Insolvency Acts in the context of business rescue, focusing on voidable dispositions, the disposal of assets and the potential liability of directors and officers during the turnaround phase of business rescue.

Cost: R50 for TMA members, R100 per person for non-members.

Snacks will be served and a cash bar will be available.
